So you've decided to adopt. You've responded to that tug on your
heart and are committed to doing something for yourself, for your
family, and for the world.
People adopt for many reasons. Perhaps they've experienced infertility
or simply want to expand their current families. Perhaps they've
seen children from around the world yearning for a home and a chance
at a better life. Whatever the reason, the decision is the same:
to expand a family through adoption. This decision starts with
you, and it’s a decision that triggers a journey that will
change your life and the life of a child forever.
Although adoption from a foreign country can be a confusing, lengthy,
and frustrating process, the end result is definitely worth it.
(We know this from experience, because we have adopted children,
too.)
So now what?
To make this process more clear, here is a timeline of the international
adoption journey and a glossary of useful terms.
